I wish with all my heart it was really like that.

The debates, basically, are like that. Nothing of value or substance comes out of it for decided voters (eg, voters that read position papers, platforms and are otherwise politically involved or committed to their respective political movement). Its just hash and word salad for undecideds.

That said, check out Bill Moyer's Journal from this week -- there's an excellent segment critical of both campaign's message craft, including what is discussed at the debates. Professor Kathleen Hall Jamieson is the guest.

Yes, Bill Moyers is critical of Obama, and not some made-up, balance-for-the-sake-of-balance balance like the kind Greenwald is pitching a fit about.

I mean, I wish the things they talked about really were "a million dollars with of christmas ornaments" and "I have a super power!"
That would be great.

Yes, our irony settings are out of whack. I'm saying, they might as well be getting up on stage and doing this:

You're saying you want a million dollars with Christmas ornaments. Who would say no to that?

;)
